The advice would end up paying dividends for Cavill as he would progressively get in better shape over the years until landing the lead role in the DC Extended Universe with Man of Steel, helping launch him further to stardom in the action genre and further exhibiting his strength in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Mission: Impossible - Fallout and The Witcher. Though Campbell's comments regarding Cavill's stature at the time of auditioning for Casino Royale may initially frustrate some, there should be some comfort taken in the actor's assurance the director was coming from a place of guidance as Cavill was early in his career. Campbell has previously confirmed that Cavill was in the running but claimed the reason he wasn't cast for the part was that he was simply ' too young for this Bond.'
